New features introduced in this update include:
- The getcpu system call is now supported.
- /proc NUMA maps are now supported.
- Upgraded openib and openmpi to OFED 1.2 to provide InfiniBand support.
- madvise() now supports DONTFORK and DOFORK.
- Added /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches to clear pagecache and slabcache on demand.
- Removed upper value limit on /proc/sys/vm/max_queue_depth.
- The out of memory killer is designed to kill processes to recover memory under very severe out of memory conditions. The out of memory killer can now be disabled; as such, when an out of memory condition occurs, a kernel panic will occur. To disable the out of memory killer, use the command echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/panic_on_oom. Note that the out of memory killer is still enabled by default.
- smaps functionality is now supported.
- Fixed an NFSv4 link bug that prevented i_nlink counts from updating properly.
- Updated CIFS client to version 1.48aRH.
- CONFIG_KPROBES is now enabled to provide Systemtap support.
