2000年ごろのウイルス対策ソフト？！そうなんだ！！！
米Microsoftがリリースした無料セキュリティソフト「Microsoft Security Essentials」について、SANS Internet Storm Centerの研究者が「これだけではセキュリティは守れない」との見方をサイトで表明した。

同ソフトについてSANSの研究者は、マルウェアを検出して削除する機能のみを提供しているにすぎず、「2000年ごろのウイルス対策ソフトのようなものだ」と酷評。多くのウイルス対策ソフトメーカーの製品が提供しているような機能を備えておらず、「セキュリティをこれだけに頼ってはいけない」と釘を刺している。
ただし検出率はかなり良く、検証に使ったマルウェアのほとんどを検出できたもようだと報告した。有料のセキュリティソフトを導入したがらないユーザーが大勢いるのは事実であり、その溝は埋められるだろうとの見方を示した。
シグニチャは平均1日に3回アップデートされるそうです。
The install is straight forward. After downloading it (approx. 8MB), run the installer and follow the yellow brick road. It does a genuine product check and after installation it will go and update itself. I had troubles getting it to update when behind a proxy server, but I suspect that was a local issue. Going direct it updates and applies the latest signatures. Reportedly there will be 3 updates per day on average.
